SPECIAL RECOGNITION FOR RESERVISTS WHO HAVE SERVED OVERSEAS SINCE WWII

This year it will be just over 60 years since the part-time forces were reformed after WWII. In those 60 years Reservists have been volunteering to serve overseas from the early United Nations missions and Korea to the current overseas operations.

The Reserve Forces Day Council will give special recognition this year to those members who, when as Reservists, volunteered to serve overseas in operations or humanitarian missions and who have been awarded a medal for that service.

SPECTACULAR REVIEW ON THE DOMAIN

Another spectacular parade and march will be held on the Sydney Domain on Sunday 4 July 2010.

The Domain has been the site of many historic military parades since the formation of the Colony.

Brass, Pipes and Drums bands, Association Standards and Banners along with armoured cars taking up positions to hold ground, and a Vice-Regal escort of Mounted Police and Light Horse will take part. The Light Horse members will carry the pennons of the 15 LH Regiments that served overseas in WWI which will add colour and pageantry to the day. The Governor General is to record the TV Community Service Announcement and we are waiting for notification if she is able to review the parade.

Unlike a street parade, spectators will have the opportunity to view their family and friends and observe the pride of their Formations and Associations for the duration of the parade.

Please attend and support your Reservists.

Sydney parade Sun 4 July 2010, form up time 1030h. Association reunions will follow.

For more information including how to register for the Governor General’s recognition Certificate, contact Ian Meek; telephone: 02 9451 7636; mobile: 0423 209 394 .
